Prof Dr Gerrit Hölzle specialises in insolvency administration, acting as an administrator, trustee and in an executive role in self-administration procedures. He also advises companies in crisis situations. He manages our offices in Bremen and Hanover, and has worked throughout the country.

Expertise

Prof Dr Gerrit Hölzle works as an insolvency administrator, trustee and, in particular, in executive management functions in self-administration procedures. He is an advocate of modern, transparent and solution-oriented insolvency administration, in which cooperation with stakeholders plays a central role. Both when managing insolvency procedures and when providing advice, he always places value on solutions that are both legally sound and also pragmatic in their approach. Gerrit Hölzle has made a name for himself with his preparation of insolvency plans. Prof Dr Hölzle focuses on the manufacturing, automotive and energy sectors, as well as services and commerce. 

Prof Dr Gerrit Hölzle is also a member of the Institute for Commercial Law at the University of Bremen, where he habilitated in 2011, and teaches as an honorary professor. He has been featured in numerous specialist publications and commentaries and has been honoured as one of the leading German experts in insolvency law (WirtschaftsWoche issues 31/2019 and 41/2018).

Career

Prof Dr Gerrit Hölzle  is a partner at GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB and has been head of the Insolvency Administration Department.

Before that, he worked in his own law firm for ten years after graduating from the University of Würzburg as the best of his year. Gerrit Hölzle received his doctorate from the University of Cologne with a thesis on tax law models for the acquisition and transformation of companies under Prof Dr Joachim Lang. In 2011 he habilitated at the University of Bremen on a legal economics topic. In 2019, Gerrit Hölzle was appointed Honorary Professor of Civil Law, Commercial and Corporate Law, Insolvency and Tax Law by the University of Bremen as a result of his academic and practical achievements.

He has been a lawyer since 2002 and an insolvency administrator since 2004.

In addition to his practical awards, e.g. in WirtschaftsWoche and in JUVE, Prof Dr Gerrit Hölzle also has a number of publications to his name in professional journals, commentaries and handbooks, as an outstanding expert in insolvency law.

Teaching activities and lectures

In addition to participating in the scientific discourse on current problems, through which our partners actively contribute to the development of law, we are also aware of our responsibility for the training of young academics. Gerrit Hölzle is particularly distinguished in both areas. He is well known for his more than 100 papers and his participation in handbooks and commentaries as well as numerous lectures.

In addition, Gerrit Hölzle teaches insolvency law as an honorary professor at the University of Bremen.
