Dr Jan Scharf works primarily in procurement law, EU State aid law and real estate law. 

He has particular experience in overseeing complex purchases and privatisation processes from a procurement law perspective, particularly in building construction and civil engineering, real estate, science and research, external advertising, healthcare, IT, and waste and utility management. Alongside managing the overall procurement process, he also provides advice on contract law, although also regularly calls upon appropriate specialists at GÖRG, for example, in the field of IT.

He also has particular expertise in managing procurement law appeals and complaints proceedings. Depending on the sector, he represents either public clients or bidders.

He regularly offers advice on matters relating to subsidy law, in particular with complex real estate transactions and complex real estate transactions that involve the public sector (e.g. sale of land).

Jan Scharf is co-author of an academic commentary on procurement law (VgV). He is also head of the regional group (north) of the procurement forum. As well as this, he regularly holds training courses and further training on procurement law, and is a lecturer for the specialist law course offered by Bucerius Law School.

Dr Jan Scharf has been a partner at GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB since 2013.

Before joining GÖRG, he worked as a lawyer for a large international law firm in Hamburg and London (UK).

After obtaining a degree in law at the University of Kiel and a doctorate in Brussels, Jan Scharf completed his legal training in Hamburg.

He was admitted to the bar in 2002.
