GÖRG advised the insolvency administrator of Magnetec GmbH, Dr. Andreas Kleinschmidt (White & Case), on the sale of the business operations and foreign subsidiaries to Aperam by way of a restructuring transfer. The team was led by Cologne-based partners Claus Christopher Schiller and Dr. Michael Schaumann. The transaction closed on April 1, 2026.

The Magnetec Group is an internationally manufacturer of inductive components for the automotive, energy, industrial, and safety sectors. Through its direct holdings, Magnetec GmbH operates production sites in Hungary, Moldova, Vietnam, and China, as well as sales offices in the U.S. and India. The group, which has been in operation since 1984, currently employs approximately 650 people.

The acquiring entities are part of the publicly traded, Luxembourg-based Aperam S.A., a global manufacturer of stainless, electrical, and specialty steels as well as alloys. With this transaction, Aperam is further strengthening its activities in the Alloys & Specialties segment and further expanding its presence in electrical and electronic applications.

A GÖRG team led by Christopher Schiller and Michael Schaumann advised the insolvency administrator on structuring the transaction, including the coordination of the transfer of the foreign subsidiaries in China, Vietnam, Hungary, and Moldova, as well as implementing the sale process.
