GÖRG has successfully restructured the Urban Group as part of insolvency proceedings. Partners Dr Jan Janßen and Dr Mike Westkamp implemented an investor solution whereby essential assets were sold to TUDM GmbH, a sister company of the TELEMOND Group, as part of a transfer restructuring. Previously, on April 3 and 4, 2025, the Hagen Local Court had ordered preliminary insolvency proceedings for all group companies; the proceedings were opened on July 1.
The Urban Group, a manufacturer specializing in high-strength steels for the defense, energy, and infrastructure industries, among others, will continue to operate under the name Urban Engineering GmbH at its location in Hagen. Fifty-six jobs will be retained.
GÖRG had already taken over the insolvency administration of the affected companies in April. The aim was to secure business operations in the long term as part of a structured investor process. The process was supported by GO & Company (M&A advice), RSM Ebner Stolz (legal transaction advice), PSM Management GmbH (commercial support) and other specialist advisors.
The insolvency was triggered by extensive investments in new production technologies and capacity expansion at the Dutch site. Delayed order placements led to underutilization of production and, as a result, to significant liquidity bottlenecks.
The buyer, the Poland-based TELEMOND Group, specializes in the manufacture of steel structures for offshore applications, special vehicle construction, and the automotive industry, among other things. With around 1,200 employees at several European locations, the acquisition strengthens its position in the field of high-strength steel processing.
