GÖRG advises majority shareholder fundsaccess AG during the sale of 75% of the shares in the financial technology company treefin AG to the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group

19.01.2017

[Munich, ] A team from GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB, headed by the Munich partner Dr Bernt Paudtke, advised fundsaccess AG, which is the majority shareholder of treefin AG (treefin), in connection with the sale by several shareholders of a total of 75% of the shares in treefin to the Wüstenrot & Württembergische Group (W&W).

Treefin is a young FinTech start-up, which was founded at the end of 2014 and is headquartered in Munich. It has developed an innovative financial assistant app, which has been established in the market since 2015. treefin’s digital financial assistant is a constant companion and presents the user’s bank accounts, insurances and investments in a clear format using a single app. With this app, a user can examine a clearly structured overview of his or her financial situation. treefin shows users savings opportunities and optimisation potential based on their current financial situation. Users can then contact an independent financial adviser with the information they have received or seek advice from a comparison portal.

The transaction resulted in W&W acquiring a majority interest in treefin from fundsaccess AG and some other shareholders. W&W’s acquisition of the interest is based on its desire to integrate the functions of the digital finance assistant into its financial services portfolio. The majority takeover of treefin AG further expands W&W’s digital capability and its range of services as a financial services provider and represents yet another step in its modernisation and accommodation of its customer needs.

Fundsaccess AG is a market leader when it comes to digitalisation and electronic advisory processes in the financial services sector. For the 50 customers that it currently has (and their over 20,000 advisers), the company fuses customer expertise in marketing and capital markets with the capabilities and opportunities which modern information technology has to offer.
