GÖRG partner Dr Mike Westkamp, a specialist lawyer for insolvency and restructuring law, is acting as provisional insolvency administrator for the restructuring process of office supplies manufacturer HAN GmbH & Co KG, based in Herford.
Dr Mike Westkamp started work immediately after his appointment and held initial talks with the company's management, customers and suppliers. For Westkamp, the aim of the restructuring process is not only to reposition the company for the future, but also to preserve jobs. Around 50 permanent employees and 20 temporary workers are affected. "Despite the tense situation, the workforce and business partners are showing a high level of commitment and willingness to cooperate. Operations are currently running stably with good capacity utilization," explained Westkamp. In consultation with the provisional creditors' committee, an investor process managed by RDG Unternehmensberatung AG was initiated.
The products manufactured by HAN GmbH & Co KG include filing systems, wastepaper baskets, drawer inserts and card index boxes for professional and private office supplies. The long-established company is one of the market leaders in Germany. HAN products have been awarded several design prizes and environmental certificates.
The reason for the family-run company filing for insolvency was the tense economic situation in Germany, which also dampened consumers' willingness to spend. In addition, rising energy and material costs exacerbated the economic difficulties.
