Start-ups rely on employees and their incentivisation. In addition to the already established options, the German Future Financing Act (ZuFinG) passed in November 2023 has expanded the toolbox for employee participation with the new Section 19a of the German Income Tax Act (EStG), and profit participation rights in particular have come into focus.
