Patrick Smith advises banks, financial service providers and technical service companies on matters concerning banking and transaction legislation. This includes designing new payment products, providing advice on innovative business models, supporting outsourcing solutions, negotiating with supervisory authorities, and supporting applications for permits from the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (in accordance with the Payment Services Surveillance Act and the German Banking Act).
He advises listed companies on capital markets law matters and corporate governance, particularly in connection with holding main shareholder meetings and corporate law structural measures, as well as on corporate governance.
Patrick Smith also offers comprehensive advice to companies on blockchain and crypto-tokens.
In addition to this, he supports M&A transactions, in particular with the involvement of banks, FinTech companies and financial service providers.
Patrick Smith is an associated partner at GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB. Before joining GÖRG, he worked as a lawyer for a major international law firm in Cologne.
Following his degree in law at the University of Cologne, Patrick Smith completed his legal training with clerkships in business law firms in Cologne and New York (USA) as well as with the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in Bonn. He was admitted to the bar in 2013.
