Thomas Schmidt advises national and international companies in the field of real estate law. He specialises in the areas of property investment, construction and architect agreements, and industrial plant projects. He advises and represents clients in litigious disputes in courts and arbitration proceedings, and is also active as a notary public in Berlin.
Thomas Schmidt advises national and international companies on all matters of private building law, architectural and engineering law. In particular, he has extensive experience in preparing and negotiating contracts, advising during the construction phase as well as in judicial and extra-judicial representation and advice to the parties involved in complex construction projects in the event of disputes, including the supervision of expert proceedings for the documentation of construction conditions, defects and technical problems.
Another focus of his activities is consulting in the preparation and implementation of investment projects, new construction and redevelopment projects for large real estate, in particular industrial plant projects and engineering structures.
His sector focus here is the food industry, electronics industry and hotel industry.
Thomas Schmidt is a partner and notary pubic at GÖRG Partnerschaft von Rechtsanwälten mbB. Before joining GÖRG, he worked as a partner at a German corporate law firm.
After studying law at universities in Saarbrucken, Strasbourg (France) and Urbino (Italy), and completing a professional course at the Europa-Institut at Saarland University, he undertook his legal training and the second state examinations at the Higher Regional Court of Berlin in 1985.
He was admitted to the bar in 1985, and qualified as a notary public in 1993.
From 1996 to 2008, he was an honorary judge of the Anwaltsgericht Berlin (bar council), lastly as presiding judge. Since 2008, he has been a judge at the Anwaltsgerichthof (AGH) Berlin, and since 2018, presiding judge of the II Senate of the AGH Berlin.
