Cross-border business succession: Challenges in international M&A transactions

Business succession is a key issue for many German family businesses. If there are no successors within the family, selling the business can ensure its long-term continuation. International buyers are increasingly entering the fray – and with them a host of legal, cultural and organisational challenges.

In a guest article for Deutsche Unternehmensbörse, our partner and M&A expert Prof Dr Stephan R. Göthel highlights the special requirements of cross-border M&A transactions in the context of succession. The focus is on, among other things:
