In addition, he advises his clients on an ongoing basis on all aspects of corporate law.

Career

Prof. Dr. Stephan R. Göthel is a partner at the law firm GÖRG. He is also a Professor of Company Law at BSP Business & Law School in Berlin and Hamburg.

Before joining GÖRG, he worked as a lawyer and partner in major international law firms and corporate boutiques in Hamburg.

Stephan R. Göthel studied law at the University of Münster (Dr. jur.), the University of Lausanne, the Faculté Internationale de Droit Comparé of the University of Strasbourg, the University of Michigan Law School (Visiting Scholar) and Cornell Law School (LL.M.). He completed his legal clerkship in Düsseldorf. He then worked as a research assistant at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg.

He was admitted to the bar in 2003.

Teaching activities and lectures

Prof. Dr. Stephan R. Göthel was a lecturer at Bucerius Law School in the fields of corporate law and M&A from 2005 to 2015. He has been Professor of Corporate Law at the BSP Business & Law School since 2015.

Stephan R. Göthel is also the author of numerous specialist publications in the form of books, book contributions, commentaries and essays. In particular, he is the editor and author of the standard work "Grenzüberschreitende M&A-Transaktionen", which comprehensively deals with the legal aspects of international company acquisitions, reorganisations, joint ventures and European stock corporations.
