Berlin-based GÖRG partner Prof. Dr. Torsten Martini has been appointed provisional trustee of Spremberger Krankenhaus GmbH by the Cottbus Local Court after the municipal hospital filed for insolvency proceedings. Declining revenues with rising costs for staff and materials as well as the general economic and health policy challenges make this step necessary.

The hospital continues to operate in full and the medical care of patients is secured without restriction. Similarly, nothing is changing for the staff at present; salaries and wages are secured as part of the process.

Spremberger Krankenhaus GmbH was established in 1869 as a municipal hospital. It is organised by the city of Spremberg and the Förderverein Krankenhaus Spremberg e.V. 90% of the members of the Förderverein are the more than 300 employees of the hospital.
