GÖRG advises Fraport AG on the procurement of electricity from renewable energies since 2019

Frankfurt am Main, 15.06.2020

GÖRG advises Fraport AG on procuring green-sourced electricity for the operation of Frankfurt Airport in order to implement the airport operator’s climate protection targets. The procurement process will be undertaken by way of competitive bidding in a so-called “negotiated procedure”. The bidding process was commenced on 8 June 2020 with the EU-wide publication of a non-binding preliminary information notice on the intent to acquire green power using power purchase agreements (PPA) for offshore wind power. Interested bidders are invited to respond to the notice with expressions of interest. GÖRG advises primarily on the structuring of the procurement process in compliance with applicable laws (expert Dr. Heiko Hofmann, Partner, Frankfurt am Main) and supported its procurement counsel with specific energy industry expertise (Dr. Liane Thau, Partner, Berlin) as part of a multi-office effort involving procurement and energy law colleagues throughout Germany.
