GÖRG provided comprehensive legal advice to the Hamburg-based wind and solar park operator Encavis AG on the acquisition of three onshore wind parks in Zeven, Raßlitz and Bad Gandersheim. The projects were developed and sold by Energiequelle GmbH - a German project developer in the field of renewable energies based in Brandenburg.
The three wind farms with a combined generation capacity of 64.6 megawatts (MW) will expand Encavis' German portfolio and make an important contribution to the further expansion of climate-neutral electricity generation in Germany:
Zeven wind farm (Lower Saxony): Located between Hamburg and Bremen, the wind farm comprises eight Vestas V162 wind turbines, each with an output of 6.0 MW. The latest generation turbines were erected on the basis of wind priority area 25a and generate around 139 gigawatt hours (GWh) of green electricity per year - enough to supply around ten thousand households. The wind farm is already fully operational.
Raßlitz wind farm (Saxony): The wind farm near Dresden consists of two Enercon E-160 EP5 E3 turbines, each with an output of 5.56 MW. Commissioning is planned for the near future. Annual electricity generation of around 36 GWh is expected.
Bad Gandersheim wind farm (Lower Saxony): An Enercon E-160 turbine with a rated output of 5.56 MW was commissioned in Bad Gandersheim back in spring 2024. The project is part of a repowering project: four older wind turbines from the year 2000 were dismantled and replaced by the new high-performance turbine - with an increase in efficiency of around 530%. Thanks to the optimized use of space, around 5,000 households can now be supplied with green electricity.
Encavis once again relied on a GÖRG team led by Cologne partner Thoralf Herbold as well as Dr Ruth Büchl-Winter (Corporate) and Dr Ilka Mainz (Project Development) for these transactions. The advice included the legal examination of the projects as part of a due diligence process as well as the drafting and negotiation of all project and acquisition agreements.
GÖRG regularly advises investors, operators and project developers on the acquisition, sale and realization of energy generation plants in the fields of wind, solar and storage technologies.
Encavis is one of the leading producers of electricity from renewable energies in Europe. The company operates a broadly diversified portfolio of onshore wind parks, ground-mounted solar installations and battery storage systems in 13 European countries - including Germany, Italy, Spain, Denmark and the Netherlands. Encavis also offers institutional investors attractive investment opportunities in renewable energy installations. With a total installed capacity of over 3.8 gigawatts, Encavis makes a significant contribution to a sustainable energy supply and the achievement of European climate targets.
