Berenberg Bank sells the asset manager Universal-Investment to the financial investor Montagu

[Hamburg, ] In connection with the sale of the asset manager Universal-Investment to the financial investor Montagu, GÖRG and BWLS have, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. habil. Günther Strunk and Benjamin Karten, advised the Berenberg Bank on tax issues and restructuring considerations. Montagu has acquired the shares from the previous owners Berenberg Bank and Bankhaus Lampe for an amount in the nine-digit range subject to the approval of the regulatory authorities. Universal-Investment has assets worth €280 billion under its management and employs a staff of 650. Its headquarters are located in Frankfurt am Main and it has subsidiaries and interests in Austria and Luxembourg.
