After studying law at universities in Heidelberg and Münster, he obtained his doctorate from the University of Münster under Prof Wolfram Timm, with the topic “Management control in stock corporations” (in German). Dr Richard Gerlach then completed his legal training in Krefeld with clerkships at a business law firm in Düsseldorf and at a medium-sized enterprise in Berlin. He was admitted to the bar in 2013, and joined GÖRG. In 2017, Dr Gerlach completed a secondment in the legal department of Sparkasse Cologne/Bonn.
Dr Gerlach also successfully completed a certification course for specialists in banking and capital markets law.
