Labour and employment law in professional sports

Since 12 May, the football clubs in the men's 1st and 2nd Bundesliga as well as the women's 1st Bundesliga have been in quarantine training camps prescribed by the football association. Contact with the outside world is strictly forbidden and even contact within the team is severely limited and monitored. However, to what extent is an employer actually allowed to give employees guidelines on how to organize their private life? Among other things, this is the subject of the practical handbook "Das Arbeitsrecht des Profisports” [“Labour and employment law in professional sports"], co-edited by our associated partner Dr. Heiko Reiter.
